I think one of my all time favorite books/movies is the Outsiders. I really can become a part of the story and connect with the characters.
Summary
The book is about a young boy of 14, Ponyboy, who is a greaser, or a lower social class member. He and his friends and family have to deal with the Socs(pronounced sosh), or Socialites. The gang consists of himself, Darrel, his older brother that is nicknamed Darry, Sodapop, his other brother, Two-bit, the wisecracker, Steve, Soda's best friend, Dallas, the one with the quick temper who is nicknamed Dally or Dal, and Johnny, the youngest besides Pony and who is mistreated by his family and is the gang's pet. Ponyboy and Johnny run into some trouble with the Socs and then turn to Dally for help. This takes them on the adventure of a lifetime to Windrixville with a bit of self-discovery and Gone With The Wind. After a depressing accident, Ponyboy tries to be strong. A rumble occurs between the Socs and the greasers, and Ponyboy loses what is most dear to him. Can he go on alone, or will he realize that he still has people who care about him?
I would definitely recommend this book. It is filled with action and friendship. Whenever I read this book(which I have many times) I feel like I am part of the story. Although it may be sad, it has a great storyline and a lot of detail. If you have never read this book, I encourage you to read it. If you have read it, please give me feedback.
Until next time, Jessica
