Peter and the Starcatchers

So, I have decided that my next post will be about the series Peter and the Starcatchers. This series is like a prequel to the original Peter Pan.
Summary
The story starts off with Peter and his friends on their way to a ship. They are orphans who are being sent away to a place they don't know of. On the ship, they meet a girl, Molly, and discover she has a secret. She is a part of a secret group called the Starcatchers and they capture starstuff(referred to as pixie dust) and return it before it falls into the wrong hands. Together they find that a trunk with starstuff in it. A pirate, Black Stache, tries to steal it, but Molly and Peter throw it and themselves overboard. They drift to an island that is home to a group of Natives who are intolerant to visitors. The starstuff gets into a lagoon and changes the fish to mermaids. Peter saves one of these mermaids, Teacher, and she helps him to save the starstuff. Black Stache tries to take it from Peter, who has come in contact with the specimen and now has the ability of eternal flight. He and Teacher trick him and it results in losing a hand for the pirate. Molly's father arrives and takes the starstuff safely. Out of the blue, an accident is caused and a sacrifice is made and Peter will never be the same again. Will he reeturn to England, or stay to figure out his new life?
I would definitely recommend this book. Once you read the first one, you won't be able to stop. You will fall in love with the characters and be filled with suspense all throughout the book. If you haven't read this book, I encourage you to read it. If you have, please leave some feedback.
Until next time, Jessica

The Outsiders

I think one of my all time favorite books/movies is the Outsiders. I really can become a part of the story and connect with the characters.
Summary
The book is about a young boy of 14, Ponyboy, who is a greaser, or a lower social class member. He and his friends and family have to deal with the Socs(pronounced sosh), or Socialites. The gang consists of himself, Darrel, his older brother that is nicknamed Darry, Sodapop, his other brother, Two-bit, the wisecracker, Steve, Soda's best friend, Dallas, the one with the quick temper who is nicknamed Dally or Dal, and Johnny, the youngest besides Pony and who is mistreated by his family and is the gang's pet. Ponyboy and Johnny run into some trouble with the Socs and then turn to Dally for help. This takes them on the adventure of a lifetime to Windrixville with a bit of self-discovery and Gone With The Wind. After a depressing accident, Ponyboy tries to be strong. A rumble occurs between the Socs and the greasers, and Ponyboy loses what is most dear to him. Can he go on alone, or will he realize that he still has people who care about him?

I would definitely recommend this book. It is filled with action and friendship. Whenever I read this book(which I have many times) I feel like I am part of the story. Although it may be sad, it has a great storyline and a lot of detail. If you have never read this book, I encourage you to read it. If you have read it, please give me feedback.

Until next time, Jessica
